Cher is no stranger to Las Vegas. Her first residency was in 1979 at Caesars Palace and again nearly 30 years later in 2008 with a 3 year residency headlining at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In February, Cher returns to Las Vegas for a exclusive engagement with MGM Resorts as she debuts CLASSIC CHER  at Park Theater at Monte Carlo. In May she appears at the all new theater at MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

An Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Golden Globe Award-winner, the Goddess of Pop known for extravagant stage spectacles, breathtaking costumes and dynamic performance brings an all-new show featuring her chart-topping classics to MGM Resorts’ newest live entertainment venues,

“I plan to make this my best show ever. I am extremely excited about both of these new theaters – they are state-of-the-art and beautiful.”

Cher launched her career in the '60s, initially as a solo career, but Cher suffered stage fright so she asked performer Sonny to join her on stage. The two became close friends, then lovers. They launched a career as the duo Caesar & Cleo, dropping the names about a year later in favor of their own names, Sonny & Cher. Their song "I Got You Babe" became their biggest single and their signature song, knocking the Beatles off the charts.

Though known for their musical careers, their popularity had subsided as their folk-rock sounded faded as harder rock became more prevalent and in 1971, CBS offered the couple their onw TV show, "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour". The show was a ratings success. In 1982 the music and television star headed to Broadway and film production Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, and a year later starred with Meryl Streep in Silkwood

The gay community has long embraced Cher, and she has always returned that love and respect. For decades, she has been imitated by drag queens, played in gay bars and nightclubs, and the community flocks to her performances. That dedication to the gay community was questioned briefly when it hit close too home. Her daughter Chastity Bono came out as a lesbian and Cher was not initially accepting, but she later characterized this as "a very un-Cher-like reaction." and came to accept both Chastity's sexual orientation as well as her transition to Chaz Bono.

A worldwide superstar for more than six decades, Cher has sold more than 100 million records and conquered more challenges than a handful of other talents combined – recording, concerts, film, Broadway acting, television and directing. Cher’s three-year 325-show world “Farewell Tour” from 2003 to 2005 played to more than three million fans and became the most successful tour ever by any female artist. Cher returns to the stage at age 70 with CLASSIC CHER, bringing a specially designed production that can only be seen at Park Theater and The Theater at MGM National Harbor.
