HRC AND EQUALITY VIRGINIA CALL ON STATE LEADERS TO PRIORITIZE NONDISCRIMINATION PROTECTIONS: Legislation is set to be introduced that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in housing and public employment. Similar legislation has previously passed in bipartisan fashion in the Virginia Senate.   • This session, states could pass non-discrim measures and protect youth from “conversion therapy”: “We  actually have some good prospects for positive legislation to pass this year,” HRC State Legislative Director Cathryn Oakley told The Daily Beast.

HRC MOURNS DANA MARTIN, TRANS WOMAN MURDERED IN MONTGOMERY, ALA.: Martin, 31, is believed to be the first trans person murdered this year. Killed on Jan. 6, she was misgendered in initial reports.
