Skittles supports Switchboard LGBT+ helpline with rainbowless Pride pouch

The special Skittles packages for Pride

During last year’s Pride season, Skittles gave up their usual rainbow in support of the LGBTI community.

Sponsor of GSN Prides & Festival section, the company gave up their signature rainbow to celebrate that only rainbow matters during Pride.

A small gesture turned into a huge success for Skittles and a big help for all LGBTI people in need.

Skittles donated to Switchboard

The Mars Wrigley Confectionery Company, in fact, donated 2p from each pouch of special rainbowless Skittles to the Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline. The rainbowless packets were available at Tesco and Tesco Express stores over the summer.

‘As a major brand we have a responsibility to use our voice and the power of our reputation for good, and supporting Pride is a great example of this,’ Dan Newell, Fruity Confections Marketing Director at Mars Wrigley Confectionery said.

Switchboard is the oldest LGBTI helpline service in the UK. The charity, formerly known as Lesbian and Gay Switchboard, has been active since 1974.

It still provides a crucial one-stop listening service for LGBTI people on the phone, by email and through Instant Messaging.

‘We are completely overwhelmed and genuinely cannot thank the Skittles team enough. This is fantastic and nearly half our yearly fundraising target,’ Switchboard co-chair Natasha Walker said.

A commitment to help Pride

The Skittles team and wider business showed their support of London Pride by taking part in the parade with the rainbowless Skittles float.

Alongside the donation, Skittles released a series of 14 exclusive colorful videos to express love and support to the LGBTI community in the most vibrant way. Skittles was also part of GSN Pride goodie bags, created by Turkish designer Sadi Guran.
