Things we can learn from the body pride movement

It’s always good to organize and attend different movements that will make the world a better place. Not necessarily because of the state of the Earth itself, but because of the mental state of all the citizens of the world. One such movement is called “Body Pride” movement, and you might hear about it every May or June in the biggest capitals of the world. What’s the point of the movement? To accept and love your body just as it is. Even though this is always important, it seems to be much more important to the LGBTQ community, mainly because of the pressure that’s always there. Do we all have to look amazing? Do we all have to have abs and a bubble butt? What happens if we’re overweight, have love handles or simply are not made to have a Thor-like body? The Body Pride movement teaches us different things, and these are the most important.

It’s important to change the world

Just like already mentioned, the biggest lesson from the Body Pride movement is probably the fact that we really need to do whatever we can to change the world. Changing someone’s point of view is always difficult, but just like it was the case with the Gay Pride parades or the #MeToo movement, we all need to start somewhere. This movement in particular might be a small and seemingly unimportant, but it can definitely mean a lot to many people. The times when we had to worry about our looks and the way we look seem to finally be over, as we have to embrace our bodies just the way they are. Moreover, another lesson is that these movements always bring people together. Apart from being organized for a greater cause, the Body Pride Parade is a great place to have fun and be who you are without any shame or embarrassment. This movement and the parades it organizes always bring positive messages that we need so much to hear.

Your body is a temple

The fitness movement in the LGBTQ community is very strong, with more and more gays hitting the gym to pump their muscles. Even though this is a healthy way to go, it might bring more pressure to other gay people, which can have catastrophic results. It’s very difficult to be gay and not be fit. If you’re a gym rat and want to become fit, you might as well do so, but judging other people based on their appearance and body is never cool. This is another thing that the Body Pride movement teaches us – accept people just the way they are. However, if you still want to be fit and are finding ways to do so in order to fit in, bear in mind that there are things that can help you. Opting for hitting the gym and using supplements likeBCAA which can have a positive impact on your body is always a plus. But even if you do so – that is your choice only. Not everyone needs to have a perfectly shaped body, and this is not important to everyone.

You are more than your looks

Perhaps the most important lesson that this movement teaches us is that a person is much more than his or her looks. If you walk proudly through the streets during a parade of the Body Pride movement, you cannot fail to see all the diverse bodies there are, and think about what these people have to offer. On the other hand, it seems that other people celebrate fat but demonize fit, which is once again, not the point of the Body Pride. This is an important lesson that everyone who’s a part of this movement knows.

To sum up, body pride is always important. Embracing who you are, with all of your flaws and all. If you want to change anything, go ahead and do it – change is always good, and it’s very important to be the best version of yourself. However, never judge and always try to find what lies in the body.
