For ten years, The Ride has been a show like no other. It is literally a moving theater through the streets of New York City. Passengers hop aboard a tour bus and experience thrilling street performers and magical surprises ‘round every corner. Riders aren’t merely watching the action, they are part of it!
For 2017, the company is partnering with Brandon Voss, the “ultimate Drag Race party planner,” on a brand new adventure they’re calling Queen of The Ride.
In this interactive experience, revelers cruise the city's hottest gay night spots from Pieces in Greenwich Village to Hardware Bar in Hells Kitchen in a luxury vehicle with floor to ceiling windows, stadium-style seating, a state-of-the-art sound system, 40 plasma-screen monitors, 3,000 LED lights, and a fully stocked bar.
While en route, passengers are entertained by some of NYC's finest and most outlandish nightlife creatures. Drag queen Shequida hosts the evening with her unique brand of commentary. She explains more.
How crazy do things get on The Ride?
Shequida: Let me tell you, a bus full of drinking people can get very wild. Last week, we had a 70-year-old woman on board who, after just a few drinks, was flashing her tits to tourists on the street!
Oh, the poor tourists!
Shequida: Mostly everyone on the street loves the wild energy they can see coming from the guests on the Ride. The fun is infectious.
Who are some of the street performers?
Shequida: We have singers, dancers, rappers and, of course, amazing drag performers. You never know when and who will pop up.
Is every ride unique?
Shequida: Every Ride is totally different. So much is determined by the audience. I find the best energy is when we get a fun mix of gays and straights. I love to torment the heteros… especially if they’re cute!
As the bus cruises through NYC, are guys on board the bus cruising each other?
Shequida: It’s a bus packed with gay men, so, of course, there is always some crushing going on. But Queen of The Ride is more than that. It’s about the entertainment. Passengers are so glued to the performances and fun games we play on the bus, time somehow manages to fly by before anyone realizes.
